Did you hear? Honeybee’s are coming to McMaster’s campus!
Hamilton Urban Beekeepers is an OPIRG working group and they are excited to officially announce that they have secured funding from both the OPIRG Public Interest Grant, and the Academic Science Fund hosted by the McMaster Science Society.
CFMU headed to the official meet and greet/cleanup tonight and got the low-down on all the things they will be up to.
They’re going to be doing some fun things around campus:
- Partnering with the McMaster Beekeeping Initiative to establish hives on campus.
- Hosting hands-on workshops for the community on responsible urban beekeeping and organizing field trips to local apiaries.
- Partnering with academic departments to offer an experiential component to students conducting research on honeybee colonies.
- Making honey products available to the public via the McMaster Farmstand.
