A fun day is expected on Saturday, May 24th for The Odyssey of Saint Sara e Kali. This multicultural celebration focuses on the historical and mythical figure, Sara the Black. The Hamilton chapter will be just one of many similar celebrations across the world.
For the Romani people, Sarah the Black is an influential and important figure of legend and celebration. However, all are welcome to join the day.
The event will take place from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, a day expected to be sunny, with a high of 22 degrees Celsius. It will involve dancing, music, food, workshops and a ceremony on the shores of Hamilton Beach.
Dragonfly Dance will be there to perform and authors Ronald Lee and Susan Lloyd will be speaking.
The whole day’s events will be held at the Willow Cove Pavilion at Confederation Park in Hamilton, 680 Van Wagners Beach Road.
