Things to do in Hamilton on Canada Day weekend!

It is a busy weekend in Hamilton. Starting on Friday, June 27th, weekend festivities are taking over town all the way through until Canada Day on Tuesday, July 1st. To help you out, we’ve compiled a list of just some of the many events to attend this weekend. 

Below are just some of the many things happening this weekend in Hamilton:

 

Bayfront Celebration and Fireworks 

What: Great big celebration with fireworks, food trucks, face painting and more. Fun for the whole family, all ages. 

When: Tuesday, July 1st. Canada Day celebration from 6:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. Fireworks start at 10:00 p.m.

Where: Bayfront Park and Pier 4 Park

Do’s and Don’ts: Bring a lawn chair or blanket as well as sunscreen or a hat. Show some Canadian spirit- dress in red and white. No personal fireworks, barbecues or alcohol is allowed in either park. Smoking is also prohibited. Visitors are also advised to leave pets at home (except service animals) as crowds, noise and fireworks can be stressful for pets.

Oh Canada Ribfest

What: A festival of delicious ribs, live music, family activities and other vendors. All proceeds go to the Rotary Clubs of Flamborough and Waterdown

When: June 27th-July 1st

Free Admission Day- Hamilton Community Foundation 

What: To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Hamilton Community Foundation, sites around the city are open for free admission for the entire day. Over 40 centres of culture, nature and recreation will be opening their doors to the public (click below for the full list). Everything from swimming, hiking, museums and conservation areas will be available. All ages are welcome. 

When: Saturday, June 28th

Sightseeing Cruises

What: Guests can step aboard the Hamilton Harbour Queen for a 90-minute narrated tour around the Hamilton Harbour. Canada Day also holds a special Pizza Cruise (2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.) and a Fireworks Cruise (9:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.) to coincide with the show at Bayfront Park

Canada Day Pier 8 Skate Jam

What: This is your chance to dance and roller skate, at the same time! Rink-side DJs will be pumping out old school, funk and R &B. 

When: Tuesday, July 1st, 2:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Canada Day at Westfield Heritage Village 

What: Tour through the historical village and discover life in early Canada. The usual period clothing and fascinating interperperteors will mix with gardens, forests, hiking trails and the boardwalk. 

When: Tuesday, July 1st, 12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
