Last night McMaster alumni, Eric Chong, came back to Mac for a food tasting and interview hosted by his faculty, McMaster Engineering.
Eric Chong graduated from McMaster in 2013 and has since gone on to win Masterchef Canada. The finale was aired on April 28th and his victory has lead him to spend time cooking at judge Alvin Leung‘s restaurant Bo Innovation, located in Hong Kong and the #1 Italian restaurant in Toronto – Buca.
The interview began with a warm welcome and interview portion by Dr. Carlos Filipe, Chair of the Faculty of Engineering.
Eric demonstrated how he prepared his home made ‘Nam Yu Mantou’, served with the entrée (pictured below)

For dessert, Eric showed us how to prepare the perfect cheesecake. We were served a pandan cheesecake composed of cream cheese, mascapone pandan filling with a macadamia nut panko crust and raspberry coulis (aaaaandd it was delicious!)
While food was being served, Eric was eager to answer many questions from the audience. After prizes were given out through a raffle, he sat down and signed autographs and posed for photos with many attendees.
All in all, the event was a success!
