Whether you’re working at a cool coffee shop, doing some landscaping, or are in a lab this summer, you should be making the most of it. Anna Magnotta, Experiential Program Coordinator at the Student Success Centre, came on the Morningfile today to share some tips on how to strategically make use of your summer job.
The most important thing to do is to look at every job as an experience. Within that experience you can make some money, you can learn, you can increase your networks – both personal and professional – and you can develop your skill set.
Even if you don’t end up enjoying your job, that’s good to know for the future, and you can still take every opportunity to grow in the position. If you find yourself bored and unchallenged, take the initiative to find something to do, and make work for yourself. Not only will you benefit from the growth, but you can also gain a reference from working hard and effectively.
