It’s Bloomin June this Saturday, the official launch party of the Sunset Cultural Garden. Come out to the corner of Bay St. and Stratchan St. from 3 to 5 pm to enjoy the poetry readings, multicultural dancers, ceremonial tree plants and a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Ingie Metwally had the opportunity to sit down with Rae Pemberton, of the Friends of the Parkette, to chat about how the group saved the Simcoe Tot Lot, and gathered community support to create the Sunset Cultural Garden on the parkette.
Click on the sound clip below to find out more about their story, and what makes the garden so special – including its poetry installation featuring 12 poems in all different languages. You can also check out their Facebook page for more info.
