The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra (HPO) is starting something new this year with the Indie Series project!
This initiative aims to bring together local emerging artists and the professional orchestra to collaborate and create a cross-genre concert experience.
The first concert is coming up on June 25, and will be featuring the electronic rock band Illitry. Concert goers can expect to hear both new and familiar works that blend the rock and classical genres.
Be the first to experience the Indie Series, and come out to Park St. Gasworks on Thursday, June 25 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are only $15 and can be bought off the HPO website.
Ingie Metwally had a few folks come down to the studio to talk on the morningfile about what they’ve been working on and what people can expect from the Indie Series.
Check out the sound clip below to hear from Troy Witherow, lead singer of Illitry, Rob Wolanski, principal bassist of the HPO, and Christien Ledroit, a Hamilton-based composer who has arranged the music for the band and the HPO musicians.
