Ink Movement Hamilton: Empowering youth through creative expression

download (1)

Ink Movement Canada is a nonprofit organization led by youth, for youth. Started by then high school student Maxwell Tran in 2012, Ink Movement was created to encourage youth to creatively express themselves through engaging and accessible arts programming, and to provide recognition for talented artists.

In the last three years, Ink Movement has published two books featuring young writers, visual artists and photographers, organized a workshop series, hosted the first youth arts conference in the Peel Region, raised almost $20,000, and expanded to three chapters across Canada.

Shruti Ramesh, President of the Ink Movement Hamilton chapter, came on the morningfile last week to chat about the organization and what they aspire to accomplish. Click on the sound clip below to find out more about the work they’ve been doing and how you can get involved!

You can also check out their website for more information, or find them on Facebook and Twitter.
