This Sunday, August 9th, the Hamilton Youth Poets (HYP) is presenting Hip Hop High Tea at the Spice Factory – including all the classics of High Tea – like crustless sandwiches and scones – but with a twist!
The event promises to bring together people of all ages, to enjoy the illest beats of classical jazz and hip hop and beautiful spoken word, while sampling delicious food and different flavours of tea.
Various musicians will be performing on Sunday, along with the HYP spoken word team, and CFMU’s Mother Tareka will be MC’ing with Lex Leoisis and F.I.X.
Eddie Lartey and Adiba Baller, both poets performing on Sunday and part of the HYP team, came on the morningfile yesterday to talk about what HYP is all about, and what we can expect at Hip Hop High Tea. They also threw in a little preview for Sunday, by performing live on CFMU – just click on the sound clip below to hear for yourself!
If you’re ready to commit, tickets are $25 for youth and $50 for adults, and can be bought online at snapd Hamilton. Once purchased, be sure to email any dietary restrictions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
