Career Exploration: When and how to get started!

11041143_1013627448648225_6863323442295567969_nCareer exploration is a lifelong process, one of self-reflection and understanding.

Ingie Metwally was joined by Jillian Perkins-Marsh from the Student Success Centre on the morningfile to chat about the importance of career exploration, and just how to get started.

Here are a few main takeaways from their chat:

  1. Follow what you really enjoy doing. Generally your interests, your abilities, and your skills will lead you in the right directions.
  2. Take the time to plan, but be mindful of unplanned opportunities that come your way.
  3. Take advantage of every experience that you can. Each one will leave you with a better understanding of yourself, while also helping you develop your skills set.
  4. Take advantage of the services that the Student Success Centre offers to help both university students and young alumni in this process – information on them can be found on their website.
