Body image. What does that mean to you?

In today’s society, body image is major issue, especially with the huge obsession placed on physical appearance and idealistic bodies that is constantly being portrayed through magazines, television, and film. This obsession results in an undeniable impact on people regardless of gender or age – and in comes the McMaster Alliance for Body Peace (Mac ABP).

Mac ABP is a unique club at McMaster University with the mission to promote physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness and confidence in your body shape and size.

The goals of the executive club include: encouraging wellness; educating students on wellness and the realities of society’s ideal beauty; empowering students to adopt healthy lifestyle goals, and make changes in their own lives and the lives of their fellow students; and ultimately, enhancing the university as a whole by creating a strong and supportive community.

Ingie had Katerina and Nikhita from Mac ABP on the Morningfile to chat about the values of their group, and the events that they hold in hopes of achieving their rather admirable goals. Check out the sound clip below to listen to the full interview.

You can also find out a lot more about the club by checking out their website, or following them on Facebook and Twitter.
