The weather may be warming up, but that won’t stop Hamilton Winterfest from going on. Winterfest is a celebration of the city, its diverse community, and the beauty of the winter season.
Galleries, museums, neighborhood associations, recreation centres, small businesses, and other city partners are bringing you 10 fun-filled days of programming. From February 6-15 this year, residents of Hamilton can enjoy winter-inspired art exhibits, menus, heritage, and a wide-range of activities.
Hamilton will be kicking-off the 38th annual event this coming Saturday, February 6 at Hamilton’s waterfront with live music and performances, film screenings, craft activities, outdoor skating, and delicious treats. Except for skate rental fees and refreshments, all activities are free for the Kick-Off event.
New this year is Winterfest After Dark, featuring a Night Market presented by Hamilton Flea, an interactive screening of Strange Brew (1983) including a hoser costume contest presented by Girl on the Wing, and a Dance Party in The Brain Tent.
Individuals are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food or cash donation for the Welcome Inn Community Centre food bank and donations of gloves, mittens, hats, scarves, and new socks will be accepted as well for Heart In The City Hamilton winter clothing drive.
For more details on Kick-Off programming, check out the City of Hamilton website or the event page on Facebook. You can also visit the Winterfest site for a schedule of all the events running throughout the festival.
