International Women’s Day in Hamilton


While International Women’s Day is on March 8th, Hamilton is celebrating with a full week of activities this year, kicking off with a rally on Saturday, March 5th!

International Women’s Day celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievement of women all over the world, while also aiming to raise awareness on various women’s issues and causes.

There are many ways to get involved – just check out a list of events below:

March 5th – International Women’s Day: Voices of Women
The International Women’s Day Committee, coordinated by SACHA, invites all women to participate in this FREE International Women’s Day Celebration.

Stand up and support actions to advance and recognize women in Hamilton and all over the world! Rally, march, and enjoy a light lunch and entertainment including Spirit Bear Drummers.

This event is FREE and child-friendly and we recommend you bring you drums, musical instruments, poems, music, and art.

WHEN: Saturday, March 5 from 10:30am to 2pm

March 5th – International Women’s Day Concert and Sing-A-Long


Women have a lot so celebrate, a lot to struggle against, and a lot to sing about!

The International Women’s Day Concert and Labour Song Sing-A-Long will be held at Worker’s Arts and Heritage Centre’s Main Gallery, with the theme, Pledge for Parity. Attendees of the event will be lead in song (some recognizable and some new) by some powerfully talented women.

The event is presented by Workers Arts & Heritage Centre and SACHA, who welcome all genders and ages to the sing-a-long.

March 7 – March 11 MSU WGEN Presents: International Women’s Week 2016
Join WGEN from March 7th-11th for a week full of events in celebration of International Women’s Week! They will be hosting film nights, panels, art shows, and more, in recognition of the amazing work and accomplishments of women, trans and non-binary folks within our communities.
