Is there a senior out there in Hamilton that you admire for their commitment to the community? Think they deserve recognition for their hard work and passion? Nominate them for a Senior Service Award!
The Hamilton Senior of the Year Awards were created to honour senior citizens who have made an outstanding voluntary contribution to enrich the social, cultural, or civic life of our community.
Each year, a senior is awarded the Senior of the Year Award, and 8 other seniors are recognized through different awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award, the Healthy and Active Living Award, and the Diversity and Cultural Award.
For a full list of awards and information on how to nominate individuals, you can visit the City of Hamilton website here. The deadline to submit nominations is March 31, 2016 at 4 pm and the dinner and Awards Ceremony will take place on June 14, 2016 at Michelangelo’s. Tickets for this event will go on sale May 1, 2016.
Ingie had Lisa Maychak, Senior of the Year Awards Coordinator, come on Morningfile to chat about the different awards and why it’s so important to recognize the work of seniors in Hamilton. Check out the sound clip to listen in on the conversation.
