After the Robert Land School closed in 2004, a team of proud North End neighbours and concerned citizens came together to transform the school into a much-needed community centre.
Today, the Eva Rothwell Resource Centre has been a home to innovative programs and services for families in the Keith Neighbourhood for almost ten years now. The centre aims to improve the quality of life and enhance the social well-being of over 700 families who struggle daily to find basic necessities such as food, shelter, clothing, and mentorship.
The centre offers both family support services – such as a clothing room, food pantry, and back-to-work centre – and youth services – which include a breakfast program for all students, after-school programs for youth aged 5-18 years, and tutoring.
While the centre has been successful in providing positive mentorship, developing leadership, and creating productive members of society, they need your help to keep it going!
On April 1st, 2016 they are hosting Party for a Cause at the Hamilton Police Association Hall to raise money for the centre. From 8 pm – 1 am, there will be free food, dancing, karaoke, door prizes, games, raffle prizes, and a cash bar – basically everything needed for a fantastic evening!
Tickets for the event are $15 or $10 + a food donation, and all proceeds will be donated to the Eva Rothwell Resource Centre and will be used to enhance programming, increase at-risk youth participation, and expand community outreach.
