Toronto Bands playing Homegrown Hamilton this Friday!

13102744_817494581688129_6691345659317705561_n.pngThis Friday, April 29th, three diverse bands will be performing at Homegrown; Jon and his Friends, Bad Dad and The Pool Girls, and The Funny Funk Band.

The opening act, Jon and his Friends, is a 4 piece heavy blues rock band from Hamilton Ontario. They bring out a hell of a crowd and like to party with their fans after the show!

Next to come is Toronto’s Bad Dad & the Pool Girls. They were created back in 2013 and have established a niche within Toronto as being a band where old souls meet young bodies. Comprised of five members, Bad Dad & the Pool Girls create a variety of rock, blues, and funk sounds. They can get loud enough to invite new fans off the streets, and they can get heavy enough to give their audience a sense of reflection and connection. If you miss the good ole days of rock’n’roll, it has not died with this band.

Last up is another Toronto band by the name of The Funny Funk Band. They were born out of a variety show created by bassist and leader Jackson Steinwall. Their combination of music and comedy quickly gained traction in both Toronto and Montreal. However, Steinwall and company (Humber and University of Toronto music students) soon realized their passion was funk. This pivotal moment switched the focus from laughs to brass. The Funny Funk Band has always said that the key to a good show is simple – “make ‘em dance”.

So come on down this Friday to check out some bands in and outside of the Hamilton area. Doors open at 9 pm. Tickets are $10 at the door and only $5 with student ID. See you there!
