If you haven’t heard these guys before, you definitely want to give them a listen. Here, I’ll make it even easier for you with a Spotify link to their latest Rippling Waters EP.
Ostrea Lake is an independent band based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The band first formed in 2012 by singer-songwriter Elias Abi Daoud and instrumentalist Moe Kabbara. Later on, bassist Scott Kedy joined the band, helping Ostrea Lake achieve their current sound.
They have performed in various venues over the years including the Canadian indie festival known as Pop Montreal, and In The Dead of Winter festival in Atlantic Canada. They also consistently play in local Halifax venues and are now coming to a local Hamilton venue!
If I could best describe their music to you, I would say it’s one of the most peaceful and artful lullabies you will hear. The band members sometimes classify it as “post-folk,” and there’s no better way to describe it. They currently have three EP’s out (and hopefully another one soon) so definitely close your eyes and become immersed in their addicting music.
I spoke over the phone with Elias about their upcoming tour, major influences, and how they achieve their unique sound. Check out our interview below! Also, a reminder that the live event is taking place tomorrow at 7:00PM at 541 Eatery & Exchange (541 Barton St. E, Hamilton).
