Wish you could travel with a group of friends while simultaneously making a positive impact? You can, and CLOUD on campus is the club that does exactly that!
CLOUD (Changing Lives Through Opportunities and Unified Dreams) projects provide you with the opportunity to go on an unforgettable adventure, meet new people and make a difference in the lives of others. Essentially, you and a group of peers work with a certain community to identify their needs and help raise money to fund your development project. Then, you get to actually travel and live in that community while making your project come to life! Some of these include communities within the Dominican Republic and Haiti!
What’s really cool is that you can join a project solo, with friends, coworkers, family or as an organization. It’s completely up to you!
So, how does this all work? The umbrella organization that CLOUD is a part of is known as the New World Community (NWC). The NWC facilitates important connections between environmentally and socially conscious people along with various communities across the world. CLOUD projects is one of the channels that allows the NWC to do just that!
Today, Mark spoke with third year commerce student, Matt Oliver, who is a current Program Manager and member of CLOUD of campus at McMaster. They talked about how CLOUD projects work, Matt’s experience on previous trips and how YOU can become a CLOUD member! Check out the full interview below:
