Dr. John Bandler is an engineering professor emeritus at McMaster University. He is also an entrepreneur, playwright, artist, and he’s written a novel, screenplay and NINE stage plays! I wouldn’t be surprised if his name was found in a dictionary under the word multi-talented…
Bandler’s various works range from plays like the Trial of Naomi Verne to pioneering the concept of Space Mapping in 1993. Oh, and did I mention that he is the president of Bandler Corporation? You also might recognize him from his TEDxMcMaster U presentation in 2014! He is truly a man of many talents and his latest stage play will be at the Hamilton Fringe Festival this year!
Today, Mark spoke to John about his latest play and what we can expect with this new Hitchcock-style psychodrama, Christmas Eve at the Julibee Motel. The story follows a woman named Cassie, who is about to close her Julibee Motel, when a storm arrives and sweeps in a man named Mick. Cassie insists that the motel is closed, however Mick insists on a room. After a night of hard-core banter, confessions, threats, and unfulfilled desires, Mick must decide whether he wants to die while Cassie decides whether or not she wants him to live.
Christmas Eve at the Julibee Motel will be at the Hamilton Fringe Festival July 15-18 and 20-23. More details and information can be found here and tickets can be purchased here. Also, check out Mark’s full MorningFile interview with John about the upcoming play below!
